SMN, an international broadcaster of news and live video.
Engagement
We built the platform: the newsroom CMS, live-stream management, the ad engine, donations and search.

The challenge

A newsroom that publishes articles and live broadcasts, sells ad space and takes donations needed all of it in one system, not in separate tools.

The solution

A Django and React platform. Editors write in a rich-text CMS with categories, tags and homepage sections. Live streams record viewer counts over time. Ads run in zones on a schedule, with impression and click tracking. Donations go through Stripe in several currencies. PostgreSQL full-text search and Redis caching keep reading fast, and Celery runs scheduled publishing and reporting.

The impact

  • Articles, live streams, ads and donations managed in one place.
  • Viewer counts recorded for every live stream.
  • Ad impressions and click-through rates reported by zone.
